Raymond Michael Huelbig Jr., of Cranston, RI passed away at home on November 28, 2024. Ray was born in New Jersey and lived in Rhode Island for most of his life.
Ray was a graduate of Weehawken High School in New Jersey and Rhode Island College. He was an outstanding athlete who excelled in basketball and baseball. Ray is a member of the Weehawken High School Hall of Fame, Rhode Island College Hall of Fame and the Hudson County Athletic Hall of Fame. He was also selected to the Rhode Island College 100th Anniversary basketball team.
Ray taught in the Rhode Island school system for many years where he coached basketball and cross country. After teaching he pursued a career in the automotive industry and served as the President of the Rhode Island Auto Body Association. In his spare time, Ray coached basketball and mentored young athletes. He touched many lives and was loved and respected by everyone.
Ray was predeceased by his parents Raymond and Kathleen Huelbig. Surviving are his wife, and the love of his life, Shawnn; his children Will and his wife Lori, Miko and Michael; grandchildren Nicolas, Tevin, Samantha and Alecia and his siblings Kathy, her husband John, J.P. and his wife Jennifer. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, December 5th from 3:00 – 7:00pm at Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln. Burial is private. Flowers are welcome.
